Our pontoon boat started from a 7ftx10ft frame of water-treated 2x6's, 2x4's, and 2x2's. we got these from the remains of my old backyard deck which was replaced over the summer (all framework was pressure treated and stained).. Back in 1952 a minnesota farmer named ambrose weeres welded together two sets of steel barrels and secured a wooden platform on top. when he mounted a small outboard on the aft end, set in between the twin tubes, weeres essentially invented the modern pontoon boat.. We're interested to build a small floating home, cabin style houseboat? can we take a small wooden building and transform it into a houseboat?.
